In the 2022-23 school year, undergraduates and graduate students received about $240.7 billion in financial aid. However, every year over $2 billion go unclaimed because some students eligible for federal student aid do not complete the FAFSA. Your first step to apply for financial aid is to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Financial Aid (FAFSA).
